Community Engagement

Community engagement in poultry farming plays a crucial role in fostering sustainable and inclusive agricultural practices. When local communities are actively involved in the decision-making and operational processes of poultry farming, it leads to better alignment with community needs and values. Engaging community members offers an avenue for shared knowledge, where traditional farming techniques can merge with modern methods to optimize productivity. Moreover, such participation ensures that the benefits of the farm, such as job opportunities, fresh produce, and skill development, are directly channeled to uplift the local populace. By weaving the fabric of community into the heart of poultry farming, we pave the way for more resilient, self-sufficient, and harmonious agricultural ecosystems.

Women in Agriculture

Background

Supportung Women means supporting all

Women play a central role in agricultural production. Worldwide, women make up 43 percent of the agricultural labor force. The lack of access to land, finance, education and training, and other factors put women farmers at a significant disadvantage.

This results in significantly lower agricultural yields than their male counterparts. In addition, women farmers tend to have smaller farms overall. These conditions make them more vulnerable to climate shocks, which can disrupt food production and lead to financial difficulties.

They also tend to be undervalued for contributing. Yet in many countries, the strengthening of women's role in agri-food systems can lead to higher food production and better nutrition for the population. According to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), only 4 percent of total bilateral official development assistance (ODA) in 2020/21 focused on gender equality and women's empowerment as a key objective.

A focus on gender equality can also promote economic development, a key factor that can help protect communities from food-related conflict. Inclusive programming that promotes women's empowerment and livelihood security can reduce poverty and inequality while strengthening social cohesion by reducing women's marginalization and creating a sense of shared purpose and prosperity between men and women.
